Canada Post / CUPW Strike Update – Back to Work Legislation Passed – Expect Delays

I\’m not writing a novel, just getting very frustrated seeing people hurting on Twitter, Facebook, eBay, Amazon seller\’s forums etc and need to get the word out.
Small businesses are shutting down exactly when their hard work should be paying off.

Please share this. People need to know they have options.

The effects of this strike will last past the holidays. Government passed back to work legislation Monday with work set to resume at noon today, but if I had something important like an e-commerce shop or gifts, checks or important letters there\’s no way I\’m taking a gamble like that. Reportedly there are 500 semi-trailer loads of undelivered mail- that\’s a huge backlog to clear.

I see lots of eBay and Amazon small business stores posting they\’re shutting down for the holidays….STOP THE MADNESS- DON\’T SHUT DOWN!

Who\’s affected?:

  • People and businesses buying and selling through Ebay, Amazon, other e-commerce sites
  • People shopping for gifts
  • People sending home made gifts and cards for the holidays
  • Businesses and individuals mailing checks and other important documents
  • Kids\’ letters to Santa (I can\’t help with this one, sorry 🙁
  • Moms and Dads waiting on Child Benefit checks

What are the alternatives?

There are several services that can get ordinary people and businesses access to discounted rates for alternatives to mail. If you\’d like to learn about the one I chose, please get in touch and I will help set you up in minutes.

I\’ve been working with for a while now, and others I\’ve introduced the platform to are very happy with all the benefits (here are just a few- click here for a quick explainer video)

  • FREE and easy to use (pay only for what you ship)
  • CHEAPER rates on mail alternatives than anything you\’ll find out there as a retail customer
  • Use the same courier services (UPS, Puro, DHL, Aramex, FedEx, etc…) just cost way less
  • Fully trackable, free insurance, APIs/integrations/web-apps,
  • blah blah blah

My point is don\’t shut down your business or holiday stuff on account of this strike, just get in touch and we can go over options or just get you set up in about 5 minutes.

Please share this. People need to know they have options.

Thanks for your time,

Phil

CUPW strikes hit Toronto, St John, Corner Brook and Deer Lake

Posted on  by Canada Post in Customer Updates

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) began strikes Monday evening in Toronto by halting all mail transfers between the Gateway mail processing plant and downstream facilities. Union members have also walked off the job at the St John NB plant and in delivery facilities in Corner Brook and Deer Lake NL.

Backlogs of both mail and parcels in our network are severe, and backlogs of parcels are expected to worsen significantly with the arrival of large volumes of online orders from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales this week.
