Though the ATA disputes the validity of some of the data used in a recent BLS study, and that lack of differentiation between long haul and other drivers (where they claim the \”shortage\”is most acute), the BLS study found no more shortage than in other blue-collar work. Just a different market.
In fact, the is \”no reason to think (…) driver supply should fail to respond to price signals\”. It\’s a pay shortage, not a driver shortage. Meaning if companies pay, more drivers will drive.
