As greater data availability and real-time decision-making become more prevalent, the relationships between shippers and 3PLs continue to grow. The 2018 22nd Annual Third Party Logistics Study produced by Penn State shows these relationships provide a competitive advantage for shippers.
For several years, the study found shippers are refocusing efforts on their core strengths leading to greater reliance on 3PL providers. Increased trust, demonstrated value and reliability of these partnerships are cited as factors.
